Good news for Alanya: A new cultural center is on the way
Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik met with the Alanya Municipality Theatre Department, which represented Turkey at the 9th International Central Asian Countries Theatre Festival held in Kazakhstan and won an international award. Mayor Özçelik emphasized that they value art and artists and stated that the foundation of a new cultural center would be laid soon.
The Alanya Municipality Theatre recently performed at the 9th International Central Asian Countries Theatre Festival in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. It was the only team from Turkey invited to the festival, and they successfully represented the country on the international stage. The theatre’s performance received great applause, and actor Fırat Onur Deniz was awarded the Best Actor prize. The theatre team visited Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik. Also present at the meeting were Vice Mayor Murat Levent Koçak, Council Member Engin Alataş, and the Director of the Municipality Theatre, Hüseyin Çinal.
ÇINAL: WE GAINED VALUABLE EXPERIENCE
Municipality Theatre Director Hüseyin Çinal mentioned that they performed the play “The Old Man and the Sea” in Kazakhstan, saying, “We participated in the 9th International Central Asian Countries Theatre Festival, which marked the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Jumat Shanin City Academic Kazakh Drama Theatre. Theatre teams from all over the world were there. We represented our country and Alanya. It was truly a magnificent and grand event. We gained significant experience there. Our team was warmly welcomed, and we received great attention. Our play was met with a standing ovation from the audience. During the closing ceremony of the festival, our actor Fırat Onur Deniz was awarded the Best Actor prize. This important success made us very proud. We are happy that we represented Alanya in the best way. We also want to thank you for giving us this opportunity”.
MAYOR ÖZÇELİK: A SOURCE OF JOY AND PRIDE
Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik congratulated the entire team on their success, saying, “It makes us very happy to see the Alanya Municipality Theatre, which was founded many years ago with the great efforts of our Vice Mayor Murat Levent Koçak, achieve such success. We truly have a theatre team that holds an important place on a global scale. I also know that you successfully represented us in Kazakhstan. When I was told that our team had received such an invitation, I immediately said, ‘Let’s begin the necessary procedures without hesitation.’ Representing our country there was already a great honor, but winning an award as well became a source of joy and pride for us”.
NEWS OF A NEW CULTURAL CENTER
Mayor Özçelik, who stated they would continue to support art and artists, said, “Since the moment we took office, we have been working to make Alanya a city of art. One of the most important milestones on this path is, of course, you. We are ready to support this team, which is dedicated to theatre and lives through art, and everyone in our city who works with art. One of the first things we did when we came to office was to start working on building a new Cultural Center. We want to create such a center both for you and for everyone in our city involved in culture and art. Our necessary meetings are ongoing. After the meetings are completed and plans are made, we will lay the foundation for a new center.” The theatre actors also thanked Mayor Özçelik and Vice Mayor Koçak for their support and presented them with the award they received in Kazakhstan.
