A chain supermarket selling expired baby food and bread in Alanya has been shut down
In inspections carried out by the Alanya Municipality Zoning Department teams, a branch of a chain supermarket that was found to be selling expired and spoiled baby food, bread products, sweets, chips, and many other food items has been shut down for 3 days and penalized through a Council Decision.
Alanya Municipality Zoning Department teams continue their inspections throughout the city to protect public health. During these diligent inspections, it was discovered that a branch of a chain supermarket on Belediye Street in Cikcilli District was selling expired and spoiled products, and a report was made. The inspection revealed that expired bread products, baby food, walnuts, Cypriot dessert, biscuits, chips, and pasta sauce were still being sold on the shelves.
Commercial Activity Suspended for 3 Days
After the inspection, the report was discussed at the Alanya Municipality Council Meeting. The business was fined administratively for selling expired and spoiled products under the Municipality Orders and Bans Application Regulation, and it was decided to suspend its commercial activities for 3 days. Zoning teams proceeded with the sealing process.
Mayor Özçelik: Inspections Will Continue and Increase
Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik made a statement on the matter, saying, "Since the first day we took office, we have continued our efforts to maintain city discipline in Alanya. Our zoning teams continue their inspections at all food establishments in our city. In this case, a business was fined and sealed for putting public health at risk. Our inspections will continue to increase, and as Alanya Municipality, we will continue to protect and watch over the rights of our citizens. We expect all businesses in Alanya to show the necessary sensitivity to this issue".
