The Medicine Crisis Shakes Alanya: Patients Are Unable to Receive Treatment
A Crisis in the Pharmaceutical Sector Due to Euro Quota: Patients Are Unable to Find Medication in Alanya
The pharmaceutical sector is facing a crisis due to the Euro quota set for drug pricing. As pharmaceutical companies continue to withdraw from Turkey, patients in Alanya are unable to find medications.
The drug shortage in Alanya and across Turkey has escalated. Due to the currency issues between the government and pharmaceutical companies, many firms are withdrawing from the Turkish market, and drug licenses are being canceled.
In the last two years, the licenses for 938 drugs have been canceled, and patients are struggling to access their medications. It is particularly emphasized that the issue will negatively affect patients with conditions like Epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and Migraine.
PATIENTS ARE SUFFERING
Türker Babalık, the Alanya Representative of the Antalya Pharmacists' Association, commented on the ongoing issue, saying, "This problem has been ongoing for months. Companies cannot make a profit due to the imbalance in the currency rate, which is why they are withdrawing from the market.
The price increase in medications in October and the slight rise in the exchange rate for medicines raised some hope, but finding new companies to replace the ones leaving and getting these medicines prescribed to patients is a long process."
