Two workers lost their lives in a banana greenhouse accident in Alanya, and authorities pointed out deficiencies in workplace safety.
Following the tragic incident in Alanya, where two workers lost their lives in a banana greenhouse, Tahir Göktepe, President of the Agricultural Chamber, emphasized the need for serious safety measures. Göktepe noted that the risk of rust is high in humid environments, and therefore, rail systems should be regularly inspected.
Göktepe stated that the use of rail systems is essential due to the sloping nature of the land, but adequate safety precautions must be taken. He mentioned that the responsibility for inspecting these systems lies with the contracting companies and added that the current regulations are insufficient in terms of workplace safety. He stressed that different regulations should be implemented based on the size of the land.
