Description
Pamukkale is a unique natural and historical landmark in Turkey, located in the Denizli province. Its name translates to "cotton castle," perfectly describing the dazzling white travertine terraces formed by thermal springs. Pamukkale is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts millions of visitors annually.
The historical gem of Pamukkale is the ancient city of Hierapolis, founded in the 2nd century BC. Visitors can explore the amphitheater, the Temple of Apollo, and the mysterious "Gate to Hell," a sacred cave from which deadly gases were said to emanate. Don't miss Cleopatra's Pool, a thermal water-filled wonder where you can soak in history.
You can reach Pamukkale from Alanya by car (about 6 hours), by bus (7-8 hours), or by plane to Denizli, followed by a transfer. This journey is rewarded with breathtaking views and a deep dive into history. Share your experiences, photos, and recommendations!
