Mayor Özçelik Kept Another Promise
Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik’s project, launched immediately after taking office to create a space where citizens can spend time at affordable prices, has been brought to life. The İskele Tea Garden is now open for service. Speaking at the opening, Mayor Özçelik said, “Since the day we took office, we have been fulfilling our promises to the people one by one.” He also gave good news, announcing that the İskele area will be opened to the public in the coming days.
The opening ceremony of the Alanya Municipality Social Facilities İskele Tea Garden, which has been completely renovated and made available for public use by the Alanya Municipality, took place. The ceremony was attended by District Governor Fatih Ürkmezer, Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, CHP Party Council Member Şengül Yeşildal, Deputy Mayors, Municipal Council Members, heads of chambers, associations and NGOs, representatives of political parties, and a large number of citizens.
MAYOR ÖZÇELİK: WE ARE FULFILLING OUR PROMISES TO THE PEOPLE ONE BY ONE
The program began with an opening prayer by Alanya Mufti İhsan İlhan. Afterward, protocol members cut the red ribbon. Following a moment of silence and the national anthem, Mayor Özçelik addressed the citizens who filled the area and wished the new facility to be beneficial for Alanya. Mayor Özçelik said: “We take pride and joy in fulfilling one of the promises we made during the election period. Since the day we took office, we have been keeping the promises we made to you, our esteemed citizens, one by one. Together, with all our strength, we are working to make Alanya a more livable, modern, and clean city.
This project is not just about opening a public café. We wanted to add value to our city and social life. As promised, we made this happen and opened it for service today. Our goal was to create a peaceful environment where our people can come together and socialize. We have turned our tea garden into a place where children can play joyfully, young people can socialize, and elders can chat pleasantly.
We designed it as an area that suits Alanya, with economic, hygienic, and quality service principles. We know that what makes cities strong is not just the buildings but the happiness, well-being, and pleasant times of the people who build that city together”.
HALK KART PROGRAM STARTS ON JANUARY 1
Mayor Özçelik stated that the İskele Tea Garden would operate under the newly established Directorate of Enterprises and Affiliates, saying: "This facility has been designed with 300 square meters of enclosed space and 1,000 square meters of open space. It has a capacity to serve 500 citizens at the same time. Production will soon begin on the area previously known for bumper cars, which is not yet operational. We will transform this area into a children's park and seating area. When we add this space to our facility, the number of people we can serve will reach approximately 750.
During the election period, we made a promise: By launching the Halk Kart program, we would provide an added benefit to our citizens residing in Alanya, alongside the joy of living here. At this Halk Café, we will implement the Halk Kart program starting January 1. Until January 1, our prices will reflect Halk Kart rates, and from January 1 onwards, citizens who use their Halk Kart will continue to enjoy these prices, purchase products, and enjoy the facilities. Registration will be available through our municipality’s mobile application, allowing our citizens to benefit from our facilities".
MAYOR ÖZÇELİK: WITH THIS PROJECT, WE’VE STARTED SMILING
Mayor Özçelik continued his speech: "As we all know, Alanya has become a university city, and we have not forgotten our university students. In other cities, residency requirements are imposed, but since we recognize the contribution of university students to Alanya, we treat them as if their residency is in Alanya, allowing them to benefit from these facilities at affordable prices. They will enjoy these discounts.
As the municipality, while presenting this special venue that reflects the identity of our city with a modern approach, we take pride in creating a social space worthy of Alanya. I thank all my colleagues who contributed to this project and my dear fellow citizens who always motivate us. I hope we can all enjoy this space together.
When I was running for Mayor and during the election campaign, I stated one of my goals as follows: ‘We will eliminate all the frowning faces in Alanya over time.’ With this project, we’ve started smiling”.
