In Alanya, 60-year-olds have started university
A first lesson event was held for new students who enrolled in the popular 60+ Renewal University at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ).
The 60+ Renewal University, aimed at providing elderly individuals with a healthy and high-quality aging experience through courses, seminars, and other activities in social, cultural, and physical areas, began its education with enthusiastic students. The first lesson event of the 60+ Renewal University, part of ALKÜ’s Lifelong Learning philosophy, was held at the ALKÜ Alev Alatlı Conference Hall. The first lesson for elderly students was given by ALKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karahan. The event was also attended by 60+ Renewal University Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür Nalbant, ALKÜ academic staff who support the project, and the 60+ Renewal University students.
In the program, which began with great interest and excitement, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karahan, Vice Rector of ALKÜ, said, "Human life shows the courage to start a new story at any age. For us, the 60+ Renewal University is the place where the main characters of this story meet, where hearts that grow younger with wisdom come together. I greet you all with my heartfelt feelings at the 2024-2025 Academic Year's First Lesson Event of the 60+ Renewal University. While hosting the first lesson of the Renewal University, we see that there is no age limit in a heart that is open to knowledge. We all know that knowledge can be learned, but it is not always applicable. Therefore, experience is always superior to knowledge. Especially when it is experience tested with knowledge. For this reason, your presence at our university, and the value your experience adds to our students, who represent the future, is very important. I believe that the only way knowledge can transform into philosophy, social life, and reality is through experience. We are so glad you are here with us. Being part of this formation always makes us happy, and we are thankful to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan, and to all of us, the academicians".
