Antalya and Alanya in a Tough Situation: They Won't Stop Increasing Rent!
The rental housing crisis in Antalya and Alanya is growing day by day. Authorities emphasize that prices will continue to rise.
In Antalya, finding a rental property has become increasingly difficult, and prices have reached astronomical figures. According to Ismail Çağlar, President of the Real Estate Agents and Car Dealers Association, there is a severe housing crisis in the city.
RENTAL PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE
The imbalance between supply and demand is considered the primary reason for the steep rise in rent prices. A slowdown in housing sales has led to fewer new constructions, while the demand for rental properties is rapidly increasing, causing continuous rent hikes.
Çağlar criticizes the attitude of property owners, noting that some have been excessively raising rental prices. This is particularly difficult for low-income citizens, as rent increases coincide with minimum wage hikes.
A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR CITIZENS
Experts suggest that certain measures need to be taken to address the problem, including setting rent prices based on regions and locations, as done in Europe. There should be incentives for contractors to increase the supply of housing, and legal regulations should be made to better protect tenants' rights. Çağlar predicts that rental prices will continue to rise in 2025, which will pose a significant problem, especially for low-income citizens.
