The numbers are raising alarms in Alanya! 7 thousand women have undergone screening

In 2024, Dr. Ayşe Işıl Güven, commenting on the cancer screenings conducted in Alanya, stated that 7,798 cancer screenings were performed at the Alanya Şehit Ebe Zeynep Eser Healthy Life Center in 2024.

Cancer continues to be one of the most serious health problems worldwide, and the increasing number of cases raises growing concerns. Modern lifestyle, environmental factors, genetic predisposition, and unhealthy eating habits are among the main reasons for this increase.

Experts emphasize that early diagnosis is crucial in the fight against cancer, and they are conducting intensive efforts to encourage individuals to undergo regular screenings and check-ups. In Alanya, cancer screenings continue without interruption.

Since January 2024, a total of 7,798 cancer screenings have been conducted, with 16 individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. Among the screenings, 3,208 were for breast cancer, 3,188 were for cervical cancer, and 1,402 were for colon cancer.

EARLY DIAGNOSIS SAVES LIVES

The Şehit Ebe Zeynep Eser Healthy Life Center (KETEM), which has been serving Alanya for many years, offers free screening services to citizens regardless of health insurance.

Dr. Ayşe Işıl Güven, who works at the center, emphasized the success of early diagnosis in treatment, stating: "When cancer is detected early, the chance of treatment approaches 100%. Women between the ages of 40 and 69 can take advantage of free screening services by applying to KETEM. Screenings can be done regularly every two years."

DON'T SKIP YOUR SCREENINGS

Dr. Güven also mentioned that throughout the year, the center organizes training and events for healthcare staff and citizens to raise awareness. She added that screening programs conducted by the Ministry of Health continue to increase early detection rates.

"Cancer screenings significantly contribute to the quality of life," Dr. Güven said, highlighting the much higher chances of successful treatment when cancer is diagnosed early. She invited all citizens to take advantage of screening services, stating: "As KETEM, we offer free services. Don't neglect your screenings for your health."
