Identification is now required for gold purchases and sales

As of January 1, 2025, new regulations regarding gold transactions at jewelry stores have come into effect.
It is now mandatory to present identification for transactions of 185,000 TRY or more. This measure aims to prevent money laundering and combat fraud. According to the directive sent to jewelers by the Ministry, if the total amount of all purchases and sales made by the same person during the day exceeds 185,000 TRY, identification will be required. Gold transactions without showing identification are prohibited, and all transactions will be recorded.
