Price per piece is 15 liras, per kilogram is 400 liras! It will be difficult to eat strawberries this year

In Antalya, the price of strawberries has reached staggering levels. Due to difficulties in finding strawberries, the price per kilogram has risen to 400 liras.

The heavy rains and storms that occurred in Antalya have negatively affected strawberry production, leading to record high prices.

The adverse weather conditions experienced last month caused significant damage to greenhouses and agricultural areas in Antalya. The strawberry industry was one of the hardest-hit sectors. Many producers are facing difficult situations due to greenhouse damage and product losses.

PRICE REACHED 400 LIRAS

This situation directly impacted strawberry prices at markets. The decrease in production has led to a sharp rise in prices. Currently, on some markets, the price of strawberries has reached 400 liras per kilogram, and some greengrocers have started selling strawberries by piece. A strawberry weighing 35-40 grams is sold for about 15 liras.

This situation is putting both producers and consumers in a tough spot. Producers are facing significant economic losses due to the adverse conditions, while consumers are struggling to afford strawberries due to the high prices.

DIFFICULTIES IN FINDING STRAWBERRIES

Osman Bayık, a greengrocer in Konyaaltı, explained the reasons for the price increase: "Strawberry production in Antalya continues throughout the year, but the recent adverse weather conditions have affected production. We’ve had trouble finding strawberries, and the prices have doubled. Right now, the price of strawberries has reached 400 liras per kilogram. We hope that the prices will decrease in the coming days".

PRICES HAVE INCREASED

As a result, the heavy rains and storms in Antalya have had a significant impact on both strawberry production and prices. This has created difficulties for both producers and consumers. It is expected that with the normalization of weather conditions, strawberry prices will decrease.
