They earn the least in Antalya and Alanya

In the tourist cities of Antalya and Alanya, the average daily earnings of employees in the tourism sector fell significantly below the national average in Turkey.

Although the aviation sector ranks at the top with the highest average daily earnings, the incomes of employees in other critical branches of tourism, such as accommodation, travel agencies, tour operators, and food and beverage services, remain at very low levels. This is especially true for employees in the food and beverage sector, whose earnings are far below the national average.

INEQUALITY EXISTS

According to data from Turizm Databank, among 90 sectors analyzed, the accommodation sector ranked 53rd, sports activities, entertainment, and leisure activities ranked 61st, travel agencies, tour operators, and other reservation services ranked 66th, and the food and beverage sector ranked 83rd. This situation indicates significant income inequality across various sub-sectors of the tourism industry.

INCOME IS NEGATIVELY IMPACTED

The reasons for this situation include the slowdown in the global economy, high inflation, fluctuations in exchange rates, and increasing competition. Additionally, unexpected drops in the tourism season also negatively affected the incomes of sector employees.

Experts emphasize that the tourism sector needs support during this challenging period, and new solutions must be developed to increase employees' incomes. Otherwise, there is a risk that qualified personnel in the sector will shift to other industries.
