Banana crisis in Alanya: Producers revolted

The management of the Alanya Wholesale Market Commission Merchants Association is not reflecting the prices of bananas produced in the district in the wholesale market prices. This situation has caused a backlash against the wholesalers in Alanya.

The Alanya Agricultural Chamber and the Banana Producers Union requested that bananas produced in Alanya, Anamur, and Bozyazı be purchased at the same price, but the wholesale market commission merchants who agreed to this did not comply with the decision. This morning, the Alanya Wholesale Market Commission Merchants Association published a price list for products at the markets, with the price of bananas listed as "No price." The behavior of the association has led to protests.

As producers rise up against the wholesalers, it is expected that Alanya Agricultural Chamber President Tahir Göktepe and Banana Producers Union President Mustafa Şenli will make a statement later today.
