The air in Antalya has done good for Fıstık

At the intercity bus terminal in Antalya, a 'Rhesus' species baby monkey was discovered while passing through the X-ray machine. The baby monkey, named Fıstık, continues its life at the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Wildlife Park. Providing information about Fıstık’s adaptation process, the Director of the Wildlife Park, Aygül Arsun, stated, “During this process, Fıstık is becoming more joyful and cheerful.”

On December 26, 2024, a 3-month-old female 'Rhesus' baby monkey, found in a box that arrived at the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Intercity Bus Terminal from Ankara, was examined by a veterinarian and then transferred to the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Wildlife Park, where she was placed in quarantine. The baby monkey, named Fıstık, is being kept in a specially prepared area during the quarantine period.

HEALTH UNDER CLOSE MONITORING

Fıstık is continuously monitored by veterinary teams and is fed a special diet consisting of vegetables, nuts, and eggs. To support its physical development, the quarantine area is equipped with rope ladders and small obstacle courses made of logs. Visitors can observe Fıstık from a distance. When it arrived at the park, Fıstık weighed 1.89 kilograms, and now it has reached a weight of 2.1 kilograms. Fıstık’s care, health checks, and treatments are regularly carried out. Park officials reported that thanks to Antalya’s climate and special care, the baby monkey’s health is improving every day.

STRESSED AND HUNGRY

According to the Director of the Wildlife Park, Aygül Arsun, they named the baby monkey "Fıstık" because it loves to eat. “When Fıstık was caught at the bus terminal and brought to our Wildlife Park, it was very frightened. It was under stress and had been hungry. Over the past few days, we have observed that Fıstık has become more joyful and cheerful. The climate of Antalya has done wonders for it,” she said.

Arsun also mentioned that various activities such as obstacle courses, rope ladders, and toys have been placed in Fıstık’s area for entertainment. “We see that in this environment, Fıstık is happy and much more cheerful. It is in good spirits, and we are monitoring its health and development,” she added.

After the quarantine process, work is ongoing to ensure that Fıstık can easily adapt to its new troop at the Wildlife Park.
