This will split Antalya in half! The project will destroy everything

The double road project that will pass through the Kaş, Demre, Finike and Kalkan regions has caused chaos after the positive EIA decision was received. Environmentalists stated that the natural and cultural heritage of the region will be destroyed.

The double road project that will pass through the Kaş, Demre, Finike and Kalkan regions of Antalya, famous for their natural and historical riches, has caused great reactions from environmentalists and local people. With the positive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) decision, it is stated that the unique natural and cultural heritage of the region is in danger of extinction.

HISTORY IS UNDER THREAT

The project, covering a 74-kilometer route, will include a 4-lane road, bridges, tunnels and underpasses. The project will directly affect 11 archaeological sites, 9 natural conservation areas, agricultural lands and forest areas in the region. Especially places of great historical importance such as Kekova, Myra and Andriake are under threat.

POSITIVE DECISION MADE

The local people and environmental organizations oppose the project on the grounds that it will destroy agricultural lands, destroy natural life and negatively affect tourism. Despite the local people and civil society organizations expressing their objections throughout the EIA process conducted for the project, a positive decision was made for the project.

IT WILL DESTROY

The project carries the risk of destroying the unique natural and cultural heritage of the region. Tourism in the region is based on natural and cultural riches. The project may negatively affect tourism by destroying these riches. The project will negatively affect the livelihoods of the local people by destroying agricultural lands. The public's opinions were not sufficiently received throughout the project process and decisions were not made transparently.

This project must be cancelled in order to protect the natural and cultural heritage of Kaş. Otherwise, the region will be irreversibly damaged.
