In Alanya, a young person declared brain dead gave life to five people

After a traffic accident in Alanya, 29-year-old A.S.Y., who was declared brain dead, donated his organs with his family's consent. A.S.Y.'s organs will give life to five people.
A.S.Y., who was seriously injured in a traffic accident on February 25 in Alanya, was declared brain dead on March 3, 2025. Following this, after discussions with the family, intensive care doctors from Alanya Education and Research Hospital, Uzm. Dr. Uğur Altun, Uzm. Dr. Hasan Dirik, and Organ Tissue Coordinator Sezer Uğuz made the decision to donate A.S.Y.'s organs. After medical tests, it was decided to transplant the young man's heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver. Special teams from Ankara Bilkent Hospital, Konya Meram Medical Faculty, and Akdeniz University came to Alanya Education and Research Hospital for the transplant. The surgery, which began in the morning at Alanya Education and Research Hospital, was successfully completed. Following the surgery, communication was made with the Antalya Organ Tissue Coordination Center, and A.S.Y.'s organs were delivered to patients waiting for transplants.
