Alanya Municipality received an award in the Waste-Free Kitchen competition

Alanya Municipality won an award in Sofra Magazine's Awareness Competition with the theme "Zero Waste Touch to Traditional Cuisine."

Alanya Municipality’s Climate Change and Zero Waste Department secured second place at Sofra Magazine's "Zero Waste Kitchen" awareness competition. The award was given for the post titled "Today in Our Zero Waste Kitchen, Alanya's Legendary Traditional Flavor Oğmaç," which was shared on the Kitchen Heritage Alanya page.

PREVENTING WASTE

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted each year, with a large portion occurring in households. Alanya Municipality is actively working on raising awareness in this important area by focusing on preventing waste and encouraging more conscious consumption through various projects. The Zero Waste Recipes competition highlighted the combination of local cuisine with zero waste principles, presenting traditional Alanya dishes in an environmentally friendly way that helps reduce waste.

SPREADING THE ZERO WASTE APPROACH

In a statement from Alanya Municipality, it was said: "Our goal is to increase environmental awareness and integrate the zero waste approach into daily life. This award is an important step in spreading the concept of zero waste in our kitchens and in promoting eco-friendly habits among the people of Alanya. We will continue to develop projects aimed at improving the environment and contributing to nature conservation for future generations. Our Climate Change and Zero Waste Department will continue working with educational and awareness projects to spread the concept of zero waste among the population."
