In Alanya, two men were denied a room – and things escalated...

A hotel in Alanya was fined 141,934 TL for discrimination after it refused to accept male guests. The decision set a precedent for similar cases.
A hotel in Alanya canceled the reservation of M.E.L. and his male cousin, who came from Adana, citing that "the number of male guests would be too high." M.E.L. filed a complaint with the Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution, claiming discrimination. The institution ruled that the hotel violated the ban on discrimination and fined it 141,934 TL. Lawyer Senar Furkan Başak stated that the hotel practiced gender-based discrimination and that this decision would set a precedent for similar cases. Başak also mentioned that restrictions on male guests' accommodation have increased in Antalya and expressed that legal processes could prevent such discrimination-related issues.
