Serious loss in Alanya: a 50% drop

Global warming has hit beekeepers. Honey production has dropped by 50%.
Changes in meteorological conditions and extreme events caused by global warming, such as high temperatures and heavy rainfall, have negatively impacted many sectors, including beekeeping. The expected honey yield for August, due to high temperatures and seasonal shifts, started in July, resulting in a 50% decrease in yield. Yücel Turan, President of the Antalya Beekeepers Association, told the Alanya Posta Medya team: “The yield has dropped by 50%. High temperatures have affected production.”
Honey yield has dropped by 50%
Turan continued his statement: “There is a significant decrease in honey production. Global warming, which has affected many sectors, has also severely impacted beekeeping. Both in Alanya and nationwide, honey yield has decreased by 50%. Currently, the cheapest honey is being sold at 500 TL. There are significant losses in both production and yield. This year, sudden rains and extreme heat have particularly contributed to the decline in productivity and yield.”
