There is a strong public interest in the book fair in Alanya

The Alanya Municipality opened the doors to the 6th Alanya Book Fair this year. The fair, which has garnered great interest, will continue for 10 days at the 100th Year Park and the Alanya Cultural Center with the participation of famous authors.

The Alanya Book Fair was inaugurated with a ceremony held at the Damlataş 100th Year Park. The fair, which will welcome visitors until October 27, saw attendance from Governor Fatih Ürkmezer, Deputy Mayor Murat Levent Koçak, ALKÜ Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Altın, District Police Chief Murat Kenan Patat, National Education Director Yusuf Yılmaz, ALTSO President Eray Erdem, ALTİD President Burhan Sili, members of the municipal council, representatives of chambers, associations, and NGOs, as well as citizens and students. After a moment of silence and the reading of the Independence March, District National Education Director Yusuf Yılmaz stated that 17,000 students will visit the fair as part of the program this year.

ALKÜ Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Altın emphasized that books reflect not only information but also emotions, thoughts, and the world of imagination.

Deputy Mayor of Alanya Murat Levent Koçak noted that Alanya embodies culture, art, tolerance, and love, stating, “The best way to prepare our young people who will aspire to manage such a city in the future is through such organizations. People from over 80 nationalities live together in tolerance and peace in Alanya. Such organizations suit this city. This year, unlike previous years, we moved our fair from the Cultural Center to an open space. It will be a wonderful event with over 80 publishing houses participating and more than 50 authors conducting interviews and signing events.”

Governor Fatih Ürkmezer also remarked, “The earlier children are introduced to books, the better. We want both our students and teachers, as well as all book lovers, to come to this fair. We, as the Alanya District Governorate, attach great importance to all our schools visiting this fair. We also support our children in purchasing books, just as we have in previous fairs. Important authors known throughout Turkey will attend the fair. I hope our children, young people, and book lovers of all ages can engage with as many books as possible. Alanya, being a city of tourism and agriculture, will also highlight cultural activities. I thank the Alanya Municipality and all institutions for prioritizing this fair on behalf of our mayor.”

The Alanya Book Fair drew significant attention from students and book lovers from the very first day. At the stands set up by publishers at the Damlataş Cave parking lot, thousands of books found new owners. Protocol members also toured the fair area. Additionally, throughout the fair, various entertaining activities for children will be held in the 100th Year Park, and authors will conduct discussions at the Alanya Cultural Center.
