A father's rebellion in Alanya: Amateur athletes are entrusted to God
In Alanya, a father, after his son was injured while playing in an amateur league due to insufficient safety measures on the field, protested by highlighting the inadequate physical conditions of the pitch and calling for the responsible authorities to take action.
On October 31, 2024, a match between Alanya Belediye Spor and Alanya Kartalları at Oba Sadullahoglu Stadium was overshadowed by an incident involving the captain of the Alanya Kartalları team, Doruk Çınar Kanar. While attempting to intervene with a ball heading for the goal, Kanar was injured when the exposed rusty metal of the goalpost pierced his knee. The father, Deniz Kanar, stated that the incident occurred during an official TFF U14 League match: "On October 31, 2024, during the match between Alanya Belediye Spor and Alanya Kartalları at Oba Sadullahoglu Stadium, my son Doruk Çınar Kanar, the captain of the Alanya Kartalları team, was injured while trying to clear the ball that was heading into the goal.
My son Doruk Çınar was injured when his knee got caught on the exposed rusty metal of the goalpost. Unfortunately, similar issues exist on almost all such fields, and we see that athletes playing on these fields are entering matches that do not guarantee them a safe and healthy competition, relying solely on God. Moreover, the absence of any medical personnel or ambulance at these matches deeply saddens us as families. I hope that the responsible authorities and officials will closely monitor such matches. I also request that unsuitable football fields be reviewed".
