Zero waste training from Alanya Municipality
As part of European Waste Reduction Week, organized by the Alanya Municipality, a zero-waste training session was held at Hamit Özçelik Primary School, which is part of the eco-school program, with the participation of singer and environmental activist Zeliha Sunal.
European Waste Reduction Week is an initiative aimed at raising awareness about waste prevention in Europe. As part of this initiative, Alanya Municipality conducted training for primary school students on topics such as the separate collection of packaging waste, textile waste, vegetable oils, electronic waste, spent batteries, recycling of waste, waste reduction activities, and practices for a waste-free life. The training, which was given to 250 students at Hamit Özçelik Primary School, part of the Eco-School program coordinated by the Turkish Foundation for Environmental Education, was attended by Alanya Municipality’s Environmental Protection and Control Director Sevda Çapa, Environmental Engineer Selin Tos, and singer and environmental activist Zeliha Sunal.
STUDENTS BOTH HAD FUN AND LEARNED
Zeliha Sunal, who runs many environmental projects both in Turkey and abroad, engages in design activities related to waste management, and stands out with her exhibitions and presentations, held a fun and informative training session. She shared with students how they can take action to reduce waste, what types of activities can be done with waste, and information about the recycled products she has created. At the end of the program, students enjoyed Zeliha Sunal's song "Target Zero Waste." In the interactive training, where the students actively participated, Alanya Municipality’s Environmental Protection and Control Director Sevda Çapa and Environmental Engineer Selin Tos presented a session covering topics such as types of waste, their harm to the environment, and how they can be recycled. The Alanya Municipality also gifted students seed pens.
