A documentary about the Yörük Games is being prepared in Alanya
The second phase of the Alanya Yörük Games Project, initiated by the Alanya Municipality, has begun. The project aims to introduce the Yörük Games to everyone, from 7 to 70 years old, and ensure their transmission to future generations.
The Alanya Yörük Games Project is conducted in collaboration with the Alanya Municipality, Alanya District Directorate of National Education, Alanya District Youth and Sports Department, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ), and Sedat Çolak, the practitioner and curator of the Yörük Games. The first phase of the project has been completed, and the preparations for the second phase for the 2024–2025 academic year have started. In this project, different games, such as Kös, Küme, Maniş, Follukfos, and Birdirbir, are taught to students, and these games are recorded on video in historical sites and natural landmarks of the city.
The project is aimed at preserving cultural heritage and passing down traditional Yörük games to children and future generations.
