Academic Collaboration for Environmental and Climate Policies
To raise awareness about environmental consciousness, Alanya Municipality will begin an academic collaboration with Alanya University. Within this collaboration, several issues will be addressed, including urban transformation, urban aesthetics, water, waste, energy management, visual and noise pollution, transportation, marine and coastal management, green spaces, and disasters.
In order to accelerate sustainable environmental initiatives, Alanya Municipality has planned a series of conferences and workshops with focus groups to create the city's environmental policies, identify environmental problems in a comprehensive manner, and develop solutions. The decision to engage in academic collaboration with Alanya University was made for the process of reporting and moderating these academic studies.
The beginning of the work with expert academics started with the “Alanya Municipality Focus Meeting,” which was held in the Council Hall. The meeting was attended by Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, department heads, and technical staff. During the meeting, environmental issues specific to Alanya, as well as tasks, authorities, and responsibilities, were discussed. The identified environmental problems were evaluated in terms of both technical and sociological effects.
