Shocking reality at the local market in Alanya

Recently, the price increases have also affected the local markets. Due to the high prices, citizens have started to wait for the evening discounts.

Dim TV, which keeps track of Alanya's economy, visited the weekly Tuesday market. Market vendors pointed out that the purchasing power of the citizens is decreasing day by day. One vendor said, "People are really in a tough situation. During the day, there should be a crowd, but there are no people. Where are they? They are thinking, ‘Maybe prices will drop in the evening, and we can buy something.’ With 1000-2000 TL, you can't even walk through one street of the market. The salaries given by the government are insufficient. People are suffering, but no one hears them. Our products are still waiting on the shelves because people have no money. And I don’t even need to mention the cost of inputs for producers."

Citizens are not living

Retiree Bekir Doğan said, "Citizens are not living. How can there be purchasing power? There is nothing cheaper than 50 TL. I bought a few things for 300-400 TL. If I want to buy everything, I can’t spend less than 1000 TL. If we go to the market every week, that would add up to 4-5 thousand TL. My wife is retired, I’m retired, our pensions are not enough. There was poverty before, but at least there was hope. Now there is no hope of buying anything. We live hopelessly without dreams."
