Health officials in the Buldhana district of India are baffled by a new virus that has left hundreds of people, including children, bald. Another perplexing detail is the lack of a common origin for the virus, which has been observed in 15 villages.

400 PEOPLE AFFECTED

The symptoms of the virus begin with severe itching of the scalp and progress to hair falling out with just a light touch or pull. It is reported that the hair loss lasts for two to three days. So far, 150 men, women, and children have lost their hair, and a total of around 400 people are said to have been affected by other symptoms.

While the origin of the virus remains a mystery, a health official suggested that it could be due to dirty water, malnutrition, or a reaction to cosmetic products.
