High-speed train is coming to Antalya! Will make transportation easier

According to data shared by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, many regions in Turkey will soon be connected to high-speed train services. Antalya is among the cities set to experience this transportation upgrade.

As presented in the 2025 budget briefing by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, high-speed train projects across Turkey are gaining momentum. In addition to the 3,776 kilometers of railway currently under construction, with the completion of projects in the design phase, the total railway length is expected to reach 28,590 kilometers by 2050.

This progress will enable cities such as Bursa, Antalya, Muğla, Trabzon, Şanlıurfa, and Mardin to access railway transportation for the first time. Additionally, cities like Samsun, Kayseri, Diyarbakır, and Malatya, which already have railways, will enjoy the comfort of high-speed trains.

TRAINS EXPECTED TO BEGIN OPERATIONS

Work on key routes such as Osmaneli-Bursa-Bandırma, Karaman-Ulukışla, Mersin-Adana-Gaziantep, Ankara-İzmir, and Halkalı-Kapıkule is progressing rapidly. These lines are expected to be completed by 2028, initiating seamless High-Speed Train (YHT) services. These projects will connect routes such as Edirne-Gaziantep and İzmir-Kayseri.

WORK COMPLETED

According to the ministry, the design phase of 6,978 kilometers of railway lines has been completed. Feasibility studies are ongoing for an additional 5,785 kilometers. Once these lines are completed, many regions in Turkey will be integrated into the high-speed train network.

A HISTORIC STEP FOR ANTALYA

In Bursa, the Osmaneli-Bursa line will be operational by 2025. The Bandırma connection is planned to be launched in 2028. Antalya will be connected to the railway network for the first time via the Kayseri-Konya-Antalya line, easing transportation significantly. The Eskişehir-Afyon-Antalya line will also include cities like Isparta and Burdur in the high-speed train network.

STRENGTHENING CONNECTIONS

Work continues on the Halkalı-Kapıkule line. The Çerkezköy-Kapıkule section will open in 2025, while the Halkalı-Çerkezköy section is scheduled for 2028. This line will accelerate transportation between Istanbul and Thrace. Additionally, a Northern Marmara high-speed train line, connecting Istanbul Airport with Sabiha Gökçen Airport, is in the design phase.

MAJOR ADVANCEMENTS

Cities such as Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, and Mardin will be included in the railway network through the Mersin-Adana-Gaziantep high-speed train line and new projects. Moreover, existing routes in Sivas, Malatya, Elazığ, and Diyarbakır will be upgraded to high-speed train standards.

HIGH-SPEED TRAIN COMES TO THE BLACK SEA

Samsun will gain access to high-speed rail via the Delice-Samsun line. Cities like Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, and Artvin will be connected to railways for the first time through the planned Samsun-Sarp line.

A NEW ERA IN TRANSPORTATION

With the completion of these projects, a faster, more comfortable, and accessible transportation network will be established across Turkey. The ministry aims to contribute to the country's economic and social development through these investments.
