The nomadic games in Alanya have been documented
Under the leadership of Alanya Municipality, a project to document traditional Yörük games was completed with the goal of preserving and passing on this cultural heritage to future generations. The filming of the project concluded with the Gübüdük Game. A total of 12 local games were documented as part of the project.
The Traditional Yörük Games Project was carried out with the support of Alanya Research Center and under the mentorship of Sedat Çolak, a Yörük games practitioner. The project aimed to preserve and promote traditional Yörük games, reaching out to all age groups, especially students, and documenting these games. The final filming took place with the Gübüdük Game in Çıplaklı Village, where local residents participated in the game while wearing traditional Yörük clothing.
Filming of each game took place in different locations
Derya Pekgözlü Karakuş, the project coordinator for Traditional Yörük Games, stated that the documentary filming had been completed. "Yörük Games Practitioner Sedat Çolak provided training on traditional Yörük games to students from schools, and then we completed the filming. The aim of this project was to preserve traditional Yörük games, pass them on to future generations, make them accessible to all sections of the population, especially students, and record them. Since we also aimed to introduce the historical, cultural, and natural beauties of Alanya, the documentary filming of each game took place in different locations. We thank everyone who collaborated with us and contributed to the project," she said.
Filming of 12 games was completed
As part of the Traditional Yörük Games Project, documentary filming was conducted for 12 different games: Börü, Gübüdük, Tamga (Damga), Terzi, Uçan Koçan (which has 5 different versions: Halka, Kozalak Yıkma, Kuş Kondu, Hedef Vurma, Yarıştırmak), Aksır, Manış, Babıç Yandı, Kös, Birdirbir, Follukfos, and Küme. The documentary will be completed after editing and will serve as an important source for passing on these historical traditional games to future generations.
