The first stage of the Turkish Cycling Cup, the Points Road Races, has concluded in Alanya
The first stage of the Turkish Cycling Cup, the Points Road Races, organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation in Alanya, concluded with criterium competitions.
The criterium, which started in front of the Alanya Teachers’ House, brought together approximately 500 athletes. In the men's senior category, Ramazan Yılmaz from Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club took first place, Mustafa Ayyorkun and Tahir Buğra Yiğit from Spor Toto Sports Club took second, and Yunus Emre Yılmaz from Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club placed third.
In the women's senior category, Azize Bekar from Brisaspor Club won first place, Reyhan Yakışır from Akut Sports Club took second, and Melike Çakır from the same club came in third. In the boys’ under-15 category, Yunus Emre Kiraz from Selçuklu Municipality Sports Club came first; in the boys’ under-17 category, İbrahim Erhan Cihan from Atak Scouting Sports Club claimed the top spot; and in the boys’ under-19 category, Ramazan Haktan Sayan from Torku Şeker Sports Club secured first place.
In the girls' under-15 category, Duru Koçak from Yalova Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate Sports Club took first place. In the girls’ under-17 category, Ecrin Yağmur Çolakoğlu from Alanya Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu Sports High School Sports Club won, while in the girls’ under-19 category, Hatice Buse Ertekin from Pamukkale Athletic Sports Club took the top position.
Federation officials presented awards to the top athletes during an organized ceremony. The President of the Turkish Cycling Federation, Emin Müftüoğlu, told reporters that the first races of the new season were held in Alanya.
Müftüoğlu highlighted that cycling has reached a unique position in Turkey:
“Since 2008, when the Presidential Cycling Tour began being broadcast on television, the perception and perspective of cycling in our country have changed. We are grateful to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan because, under his patronage, the Presidential Tour reached the highest level, and our country gained a velodrome”.
