Originating from South America! Produced in Alanya after Gazipaşa

The production of chocolate fruit, which began in Gazipaşa and has continued there, has also started to yield successful results in Alanya.

Originating from South America, chocolate fruit has now been included in production in Alanya after Gazipaşa. This fruit, carefully cultivated by producers, is gaining attention for its high nutritional value and health benefits. A source of vitamins C and A, it is known for boosting the immune system, its antioxidant effects, and its contributions to brain health. The start of its production in Turkey is considered an important step in reducing imports and adding value to the regional economy.

SUITABLE FOR THE CLIMATE, HIGH YIELD

Hilmi Sevilgen, the President of the Avocado Producers Union, stated that chocolate fruit is a typical product of tropical regions and noted that Alanya’s climate is highly suitable for growing this fruit. Sevilgen said, "This fruit is called both chocolate fruit and cocoa fruit. It’s in its third year in our garden, and we’ve had very good yields. It is very rich in vitamins C and A. Having this fruit grow in Turkey is a great source of pride for us. We’ve started slowly selling it now." Sevilgen pointed out that harvesting of chocolate fruit typically begins in mid-January, but due to warm weather conditions this year, harvesting started earlier, and the price of the product ranges from 30 to 50 liras per piece.
