Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç explained the costs of success

At the "Success Requires Sacrifice!" conference held at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ), Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç shared the costs behind success through real-life stories and historical examples.

ALKÜ continues to bring successful academics and experienced professionals together with its students through various programs. Recently, renowned Turkish literary and academic figure Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç met with his audience at the conference titled "Success Requires Sacrifice!" to explore the price behind every great achievement. Organized by the "Geçerken" Student Community under the ALKÜ Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports, the event took place at the Alev Alatlı Conference Hall in the Rectorate Building. The program was attended by ALKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan, Alanya Deputy Mayor Abdullah Akbaş, Alanya Municipal Council Member İrem Yunusoğlu, Alanya District Mufti Dr. İhsan İlhan, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kılıç, Secretary-General Onur Ocakdan, deans, vocational school directors, academics, administrative staff, and students.

Rector Türkdoğan: "We are honored to host our esteemed professor"

Rector Türkdoğan began his speech by offering condolences to the victims of the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes and expressing his hope that such a tragedy would never happen again. He emphasized that solidarity helps to overcome disasters more quickly. Highlighting Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç’s significant contributions to Turkish literature and academia, he referenced the professor's famous poem, "Take Me with You into Your Black Eyes":

"We have known and admired our esteemed professor for 25 years. I read this poem 25 years ago, and in recent years, I even visited the Erzurum Train Station, which inspired its creation, and took photos of the benches depicted in the poem. We are honored to host Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç here today. I hope everyone will enjoy this enriching and poetic discussion," said the rector.

Prof. Dr. Genç: "What comes without sacrifice has no true value"

Following the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç expressed that being in Alanya meant being at the heart of history and emphasized the importance of understanding Alanya’s past and Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat’s legacy. He then honored the memory of those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes before discussing the necessity of struggle in achieving success.

Sharing examples from his own life and family history, Prof. Dr. Genç stated:

"To achieve success, one must go through difficulties. The path to success is not always easy or pleasant. That is why we must fight for our goals. I have personally faced many hardships in my journey to success. What comes without effort is ultimately of no real benefit. If you don’t pay a price for something, you won’t truly appreciate its value. Our ancestors paid a great price for this land. If you look at successful individuals, you will see that they have all gone through hardships."

After delivering his speech, Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç thanked the audience for their attention. At the end of the conference, Rector Türkdoğan presented him with a gift and a certificate of appreciation. Prof. Dr. Genç then signed books for his fans.
