Eco-friendly steps for a greener Alanya
As part of the "Separate Collection of Vegetable Waste Oils at Source Project," Alanya Municipality has launched an Awarded Vegetable Waste Oil Campaign. The campaign will take place between March 13 and June 10, and those who bring 5 liters of vegetable waste oil will receive 1 liter of vegetable oil.
Alanya Municipality continues its efforts to raise awareness of the "Green Alanya" concept, which aims to promote environmental consciousness throughout the city. As part of the "Separate Collection of Vegetable Waste Oils" project, municipal service units and supporting neighborhood offices have been designated as collection points for vegetable waste oils in homes, households, and schools. The project has been strengthened with innovations, and used materials have been transformed into more aesthetic and protective cages for waste oil collection bins. The number of collection points has been increased for easy access by citizens, and these points will be advertised on billboards and social media.
DO NOT POUR VEGETABLE WASTE OIL INTO THE SINK, IT LEADS TO CONSUMPTION OF THE FUTURE
Currently, uncontrolled pouring of used vegetable oils directly into sinks causes significant environmental and human health damage. This results in serious issues in infrastructure systems and can even cause sewage channel blockages. It was also pointed out that vegetable waste oils thrown into solid waste contaminate the soil and, through rainwater, can infiltrate underground waters and mix with drinking water. Therefore, the awareness campaign in Alanya aims to separate and properly collect vegetable waste oils.
“WE CONVERT WASTE INTO CLEAN FUEL”
Instead of disposing of vegetable waste oils, they are processed into biodiesel with the help of licensed recycling companies accredited by the Ministry of Environment, Urban Planning, and Climate Change.
VEGETABLE WASTE OIL COLLECTION CAMPAIGN “5 LITERS OF VEGETABLE WASTE OIL FROM YOU, 1 LITER OF VEGETABLE OIL FROM US”
Alanya Municipality has started the "Separate Collection of Vegetable Waste Oils" campaign with an Awarded Vegetable Waste Oil Campaign. Those who bring 5 liters of waste oil to the Climate Change and Zero Waste Department will receive 1 liter of vegetable oil. The campaign will run from March 13 to June 10, 2025.
