Fluctuations in the exchange rate are worrying tourism professionals in Alanya

After a long period of exchange rate fluctuations, ALTİD President Sili assessed their impact on the tourism sector, stating, “Our goal is not to increase the exchange rate, but to maintain a stable economy.”
Recent fluctuations in exchange rates have excited the tourism sector, but tourism professionals are complaining about the rising costs that accompany these changes. While expectations for a rise in the exchange rate exist due to rapidly rising input costs, tourism professionals emphasize that what they really want is stability. Burhan Sili, President of the Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD), said, “What we want is a stable economy. As a result, the rise in exchange rates, along with rising costs, will not provide a solution.”
Burhan Sili, President of the Alanya Tourist Operators Association, emphasized that alongside the rise in exchange rates, the key is maintaining a stable economy, stating, “As a tourism sector, our main request is not the increase of the exchange rate, but a stable economy. What’s important is that our input costs do not continue to rise, and the exchange rate remains stable. However, the significant rise in input costs last year has negatively affected our sector, which exports locally. As a result, there has been an expectation in the sector that the rise in exchange rates will balance the price increases. However, as I have stated before, our main request is a stable economy. Ultimately, the rise in exchange rates, along with continued rising costs, will not provide a solution. Our expectation is for price increases to stop and for the exchange rate to remain stable.”
