Being removed from shelves in Alanya! Sales have been banned

Just like across all of Turkey, in Alanya, products that do not contain real lemon juice and pomegranate extract but are sold under these names have been banned.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has taken an important step to prevent consumer deception in the food sector and ensure access to healthy products. According to a new regulation published in the Official Gazette, the sale of products labeled as "lemon juice" and "pomegranate extract" but lacking these natural ingredients has been prohibited. This ban will apply to all 81 provinces of Turkey.

THESE PRODUCTS CAN NO LONGER BE SOLD

The new regulation prevents the sale of products marketed under names such as "lemon sauce," "lemon-flavored sauce," or "sauce with lemon" that do not contain real lemon juice. Similarly, products labeled as "pomegranate extract" but made with other ingredients instead of real pomegranate juice or concentrate are also banned. This decision aims to prevent consumers from being misled into believing they are purchasing genuine lemon juice or pomegranate extract.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THESE PRODUCTS?

With amendments to the Turkish Food Codex Regulation, manufacturers are now required to provide more detailed and accurate ingredient information on product labels. This will help consumers better understand what they are purchasing and make informed choices. The ministry aims to enhance food safety and prevent misleading product labeling.
