The cause of the cable car accident in Antalya was announced: All those stranded were rescued

Memiş, in his statement at the Health Security Group Command, said that intense work has been carried out since 17.28 yesterday, with a team of approximately 2,202 people, under the coordination of AFAD, with the Antalya Governorship, Metropolitan Municipality, Coast Guard Command, gendarmerie, police and non-governmental organizations. .

Stating that the operation was continued and concluded without interruption, Memiş said, "The evacuation operation of 174 citizens waiting to be evacuated was completed successfully. Unfortunately, one of our citizens lost his life and 7 of our citizens were injured. During the evacuation, 11 of our citizens were taken to the hospital for control purposes and all of them are in good condition." he said.

Memiş stated that 90 of the 174 people were rescued by helicopters with a very risky but balanced and meticulous intervention.

Sharing the information that studies on the cause of the accident are continuing, Memiş said, "According to our observations, I would like to state that this accident occurred as a result of a screw fracture at the top of the cable car pole. The judicial authorities will also carry out the other detailed study." he said.

Regarding the claim that there was a landslide at the point where the pole fell, Memiş said:

"I can say that that statement is not true, there is no indication yet that there is a landslide there. There is only an accident there. The pole remains in its place intact, there is no question of a landslide. A mechanism on the pole is broken. Our friends will detect it, so an accident will happen." "A decision will be made. Of course, you will appreciate that this operation was carried out uninterruptedly for nearly 24 hours without any sleep. We have to revise the initial information from time to time, but the information I have presented to you is up-to-date and the latest."

Memiş emphasized that the operation was completed successfully with the participation of all stakeholders.

The operation resulted in more than 23 hours of work.

Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin said that as a result of the operation that lasted more than 23 hours, 174 victims were successfully evacuated without even bleeding from their noses.

Şahin thanked those who contributed to the operation and said:

"There is no organization in the world that can carry out such an operation so quickly and with such success. Our air forces, affiliated with the Air Force, Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Command, have carried out an operation of this scale and magnitude in such a geography for the first time, and even though it is the first time they have done it, it is an incredible feat." "With great organization, great determination and great success, both our pilots and their teams achieved great success by risking their lives."

Underlining that, thanks to the support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya, they carried out a large-scale operation that could be seen in movie scripts, Şahin said, "In this way, no additional harm occurred to any of our victims, except for the death at the first moment of the accident, and more than 2 thousand personnel served in this operation. "None of them were harmed." he said.

Şahin stated that both a judicial and administrative investigation was launched upon the question regarding the detention decision against 13 people, and two civil inspectors were assigned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Emphasizing that the Police Department carries out the detention procedures in line with the instructions of the prosecutors, Şahin said, "Work on this issue will continue. The judicial process, administrative process and its technical process will continue. No one should have the slightest doubt about this."
