Attention to these dates in Antalya! Kaleiçi will be packed

The 9th Kaleiçi Oldtown Festival, organized this year by the Muratpaşa Municipality of Antalya, will take place from October 17 to 20 in the city's living ancient district of Kaleiçi.

Kaleiçi is Antalya's historic city center, featuring intersecting narrow streets, mansions, and hidden windows adorned with bougainvilleas. It stimulates visitors' sense of exploration, traces human history through its various routes, and brings together extraordinary examples of world cuisine.

KALEİÇİ WILL REGAIN ITS LOST JOY

The living ancient city, which won the "Golden Apple" tourism award in 1984, known as the "Oscar of World Tourism," has lost its joy over the years due to changes in global tourism trends and neglect. In 2014, the Muratpaşa Municipality began focusing on Kaleiçi to develop a tourism model that spreads throughout the city and integrates with local tradespeople, driven by the sense of discovering new places, cultures, and people. Through meetings with traders and collaborations with various institutions and organizations, Kaleiçi has become a region where tourism continues year-round.

COUNTDOWN TO THE KALEİÇİ FESTIVAL HAS BEGUN

The largest event among the Muratpaşa Municipality's Kaleiçi initiatives, the International Kaleiçi Oldtown Festival, will celebrate its 9th anniversary this year. Mayor Ümit Uysal announced that the 9th festival will take place from October 17 to 20. Uysal stated that one of the festival’s most significant outcomes is the establishment of permanent cultural bridges between cities with living ancient districts like Kaleiçi and the integration of Kaleiçi into the world heritage.

CONTINUING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Mayor Ümit Uysal noted that Kaleiçi has become a region that provides jobs and sustenance throughout the entire year, stating: “Antalya is undoubtedly one of the most important destinations in the world for mass tourism. Moreover, Kaleiçi, where tourism continues year-round, is a vision for Antalya as a city. It is related to the proper planning of our city's future. Seeing a vibrant Kaleiçi with tourism continuing throughout the year is a source of great pride for us
