World Animal Day was celebrated

World Animal Day was celebrated at the Demirtaş Temporary Shelter and Rehabilitation Center for Stray Animals, run by Alanya Municipality. Mayor's advisor Faruk Konukçu said, "As a result of our efforts, there will no longer be negative talk about shelters or stray animals in Alanya."

At the Demirtaş Temporary Shelter and Rehabilitation Center for Stray Animals, a program was organized in honor of World Animal Day on October 4. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Ali Yenialp, Mayor's Advisor Faruk Konukçu, Head of Nature Conservation and National Parks Alanya Mevlüt Kodal, City Council Members, teachers, students, and citizens. Students brought dog and cat food as gifts for the Center. After touring the living areas of the animals, students were informed about stray animals by veterinarians and staff. The Municipal Veterinary Services Department presented the students with food and water bowls.

KODAL: DO NOT ADOPT ANY ANIMAL YOU CANNOT CARE FOR

During the program, Head of Nature Conservation and National Parks Alanya, Mevlüt Kodal, gave a speech. Addressing the students with advice, Kodal said, "Especially with the Animal Protection Law No. 5199, pets are now protected. Similarly, wild and game animals are protected under the Land Hunting Law No. 4915. The importance of today lies in the fact that we need to take care of animals. We adopt animals, and then we abandon them on the streets. These animals, unable to fend for themselves, wander the streets in misery. This happens because people act without awareness. Do not adopt any animal if you cannot care for it continually, as adopting a pet brings great responsibility."

KONUKÇU: BY 2025, WE WILL REMOVE THIS ISSUE FROM ALANYA'S AGENDA

In his speech, Mayor's Advisor Faruk Konukçu said: "The life of all creatures, who are part of nature along with us, can only be better, happier, and healthier through the bond you establish with them. Our job as a municipality is to create this environment for you. Our aim is to make people realize that these creatures are, in fact, a part of our lives. All living creatures are part of the ecosystem that we share. We must regard both ourselves and all living beings as part of a shared life and consider their needs as important as our own. Please see every creature you bring into your life as a part of your life until the end. If we do this, there will be no concept of stray or ownerless animals. Managing issues that are beyond your control is our job, and we will take care of them. We will create beautiful living spaces for them and make Alanya a livable place for all. This place has existed for many years and is a wonderful area, though it does have some shortcomings. We have an Emergency Action Plan to improve the shelter. By uniting the resources of Alanya Municipality, our friends, benefactors, and everyone who wants to contribute to this center, we have a big dream to provide better living conditions for the animals here. By 2025, there will no longer be negative talk about shelters or stray animals in Alanya. We promise to solve all these problems. Our Mayor, Osman Tarık Özçelik, is taking serious steps in this regard, and together with animal lovers, we will remove this issue from Alanya's agenda next year."
