Warning to Electricity Subscribers for 2025: These Bills Will Hit Hard

A new regulation has begun that will put high-consumption households in a difficult position. Households that do not pay attention to their electricity consumption will face significantly higher bills.

With the new regulation that came into effect on January 1st, significant increases in electricity bills are expected. The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has decided to remove the subsidized electricity tariff. This change will lead to a significant rise in bills, especially for households with high electricity consumption. Here are the details of the changes in electricity bills starting in 2025...

REMOVAL OF THE SUBSIDIZED TARIFF, HIGH-CONSUMPTION HOUSEHOLDS WILL BE AFFECTED According to Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, the subsidized electricity tariffs will end starting in 2025. Starting in February, residential customers consuming more than 417 kilowatt-hours of electricity will purchase electricity at market prices. This will negatively affect families with high electricity consumption.

WHICH FAMILIES WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE 417 KILOWATT-HOUR LIMIT?

According to the new regulation by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), customers consuming more than 417 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will see significant increases in their bills. The average household consumes around 300-350 kilowatt-hours. This limit will especially affect households living in large homes and using many electrical appliances.

EXPECTED INCREASES IN BILLS

With the new regulation, significant increases in electricity bills are expected. For families with high consumption, there is a possibility that their bills could exceed 1,000 TL. For instance, a bill that currently costs around 400 TL could increase by almost double. This situation will create a serious financial burden for high-consumption households.

EMPHASIS ON CONSCIOUS CONSUMPTION AND ENERGY SAVINGS

It is noted that the new regulation aims not only to increase bills but also to raise awareness about energy savings. Minister Bayraktar emphasized that households must take steps to use energy more efficiently and highlighted the importance of saving. This regulation aims to encourage citizens to be more careful and conscious in their energy consumption.
