The Percentage of People Fasting During Ramadan Has Been Announced: The Results Are Unexpected

The OPTİMAR Araştırma survey, conducted across Turkey as part of the “Pulse of Turkey” study, revealed citizens' attitudes towards religious practices.
The research shed light on participation levels in key religious observances, such as prayer (namaz), giving zakat and fitra, and fasting during Ramadan.
PRAYER HABITS: 42% PRAY REGULARLY
When examining participants' prayer habits, the following results were observed:
42.8% stated that they pray regularly.
22.6% said they pray whenever possible.
Only 6.2% attend Friday prayers only.
19.6% pray rarely.
8.8% admitted that they do not pray at all.
ZAKAT, FITRA, AND CHARITY DONATIONS
The study also provided key insights into financial religious practices:
59.3% reported that they give both zakat and fitra.
32.2% do not give zakat.
Charity donations (sadaqah) were found to be more common, with 69.2% saying they give sadaqah.
22.4% do not give charity, while 8.4% did not express an opinion.
FASTING HABITS DURING RAMADAN
The fasting habits of respondents during Ramadan were distributed as follows:
57.8% fasted throughout the month.
17.6% fasted for part of Ramadan.
11.6% observed fasting outside of Ramadan as well.
6.1% fast rarely.
6.9% do not fast at all.
