ALSAV Alanya Encyclopedia has taken the first step
The Alanya Culture, Arts, and Tourism Foundation (ALSAV) is preparing to launch an important cultural project. In a recent joint meeting of the ALSAV Board of Directors and the Founders Board, they hosted Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Hacıgökmen, the Head of the History Department at Selçuk University. The main agenda of the meeting was the "Alanya Encyclopedia" project, aimed at exploring Alanya's cultural heritage and history in more depth.
The scope of the Alanya Encyclopedia was discussed during the meeting. Prof. Dr. Hacıgökmen stated that the project would include four to five thousand main entries. This encyclopedia, which will provide in-depth information on many areas such as Alanya's history, culture, tourism, art, and social structure, was emphasized as a major step in introducing the region's cultural heritage to a wider audience. Prof. Dr. Hacıgökmen, who had previously worked on the Konya Encyclopedia and a project revealing the facial features of Seljuk Sultans, mentioned that he had conducted extensive preliminary work in collaboration with both the ALSAV management and the Alanya Municipality for the Alanya Encyclopedia project. He believes this encyclopedia will fully showcase Alanya's historical and cultural heritage.
MEETINGS WITH ALANYA MAYOR BEGIN
Prof. Dr. Hacıgökmen announced that, as the next step of the project, he plans to meet with Alanya's Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik. These meetings are expected to be an important step toward the realization of the project. Hacıgökmen stated that once the Alanya Encyclopedia is completed, the cultural gaps related to Alanya will be addressed, and the city's rich history will be shared with a broader audience.
PRESERVING CULTURAL HERITAGE, A NEW ERA OF CULTURE
In a statement regarding the Alanya Encyclopedia project, ALSAV President and Alanya Deputy Mayor Murat Levent Koçak emphasized that this project is a significant step in preserving Alanya's cultural heritage for the future. Koçak said, "This step, which will help spread Alanya's historical and cultural wealth to a wider audience, presents a crucial opportunity to protect the identity and heritage of our city." Koçak noted that the Alanya Encyclopedia would address gaps in the city's history, provide a deeper exploration of its cultural fabric, and serve as an invaluable resource not only for the local population but also for tourists and academic circles.
BEGINNING OF A NEW CULTURAL ERA
Koçak stated that with the completion of the Alanya Encyclopedia, a new era in the city's cultural life would begin. "This project will carry Alanya's historical texture into the future and play a vital role in the cultural development process. Projects like this will not only address the deficiencies in our city's culture and arts but also ensure that our people take ownership of their cultural heritage," he said. The Deputy Mayor of Alanya added that with this collaborative project between ALSAV and the Alanya Municipality, they will strengthen Alanya's cultural identity and make the city a more internationally recognized center.
