Anti-vaccination movement in Alanya is alarming! Experts are warning

Anti-vaccination movement is an important issue in Alanya, just like in Turkey. This issue, which threatens not only individual health but also public health, has been addressed by Alanya District Health Director Nadir Aldemir, who stated that there is no proven harm from vaccines.

Anti-vaccination views are still widely defended by some groups in various regions of Turkey, including Alanya. Especially in recent years, distrust in COVID-19 vaccines and the influence of conspiracy theories have led to an increase in these beliefs.

In Alanya, similarly, some citizens claim that vaccines are harmful. These claims include arguments, such as vaccines weaken the immune system or cause autism, which are not scientifically based.

However, experts are debunking most of these claims. It is emphasized that vaccines are safe and play a crucial role in protecting public health. In an important statement, Alanya District Health Director Nadir Aldemir warned that if anti-vaccination sentiment spreads, it could lead to an increase in deaths and permanent diseases in society.

ANTI-VACCINATION MOVEMENT IS SPREADING

In important remarks about the anti-vaccination movement, Director Nadir Aldemir stated, "Families, for various reasons, especially do not want to vaccinate their children. Over the last 10 years, there has been a significant increase in this. We ask parents to fill out a vaccine refusal form in such cases. Although anti-vaccination sentiment is rare in Alanya compared to Turkey as a whole, it is still present. The reason we have a healthy society right now is due to vaccines. However, if this opposition continues to spread, it could cause major problems in society. So far, there has been no proven harm".

DON'T TRUST DISINFORMATION

Aldemir also advised citizens regarding vaccines: "There is an unconscious disinformation about vaccines. Vaccines are not harmful; on the contrary, they eliminate the disease and its complications, preventing disability and death. They specifically eliminate the risks associated with childhood diseases.

Currently, we are not facing a significant risk due to the anti-vaccination movement, but as we said, if this situation becomes uncontrollable, deaths, disabilities, and the spread of diseases will increase. We advise citizens to trust facts, not misinformation. Vaccines are of great importance for both individual health, the health of children, and public health".
