Greenhouses destroyed! Farmers face major losses

A severe hailstorm in the Kumluca district of Antalya caused significant damage to greenhouses, leaving farmers in a difficult situation. The storm, which affected the Mavikent and Beykonak neighborhoods, completely destroyed some greenhouses.

The hailstorm, lasting about 15 minutes, tore apart the plastic coverings of greenhouses and collapsed several structures entirely. Upon discovering the damage in the morning, farmers immediately started repair efforts.

SHORT BUT DEVASTATING EVENT

Hidayet Kökce, Chairman of the Kumluca Chamber of Agriculture, stated that around 30 farmers and 50 decares of greenhouses were damaged due to the hailstorm. Kökce remarked: “The hailstorm didn’t last long, but its impact was significant. Farmers are currently trying to recover on their own.”

This disaster will have a negative impact on the economic situation of local farmers. The chairman emphasized the need for state support to help the affected farmers.
