The epidemic is growing: hospital emergency rooms are overcrowded
In recent days, hospital emergency rooms have been overwhelmed. Experts are warning about the threat of a new epidemic, particularly highlighting the spread of two viruses over the past 10 days.
Professor Muhammed Emin Akkoyunlu stated:
"Influenza and coronavirus infections have significantly increased. At the same time, cases of pneumonia have also become more frequent," urging precautionary measures.
INFECTIONS INCREASE DURING WINTER
With the onset of winter, flu infections have started to rise. Over the past week, emergency rooms have been filled with flu-related admissions. Experts say that the spread of viruses from schools to families and public spaces is affecting everyone, from children to the elderly.
SPREAD OF INFLUENZA AND CORONAVIRUS
Professor Akkoyunlu noted that over the past 10 days, influenza and coronavirus infections have resurged into an epidemic. He also highlighted that weakened immune systems have led to an increase in pneumonia cases.
RISE IN HOSPITALIZATIONS
The winter season has caused a rise in hospitalization rates. Akkoyunlu explained that this trend is triggered not only by influenza and coronavirus but also by other viruses.
HIGH RISK IN ENCLOSED SPACES
Experts emphasize that the rise in cases is linked to the start of the school year. Prolonged time spent in enclosed spaces accelerates the spread of illnesses, which also applies to public transport and workplaces.
SYMPTOMS AND RISK FACTORS
Common symptoms of these illnesses include high fever, muscle and joint pain, and severe fatigue. For coronavirus infections, back and hip pain is common. Influenza presents with upper respiratory symptoms (cough, sneezing, runny nose), while pneumonia is associated with muscle and bone pain as well as high fever.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
Ventilation and hygiene in schools: Proper ventilation of spaces where children gather is crucial, and mask use should be encouraged.
Protection at home: Limiting contact with elderly individuals, maintaining clean air, and wearing masks can be effective.
General precautions: Regular exercise, sufficient sleep, and a balanced diet are essential for strengthening the immune system.
IMMUNE-BOOSTING FOODS
Citrus fruits, garlic, olive oil, and thyme can strengthen the immune system. Olive leaf tea and thyme tea are particularly recommended.
THE IMPORTANCE OF POSITIVE THINKING
Experts note that a positive mindset is a key factor in boosting the immune system. A depressive state reduces the number of immune cells, increasing vulnerability to infections.
