What's happening at ALKÜ? There is confusion in the exams

On January 6, 2025, an entrance exam was held at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University for the position of Lecturer in the Child Development Program under the Department of Child Care and Youth Services in the School of Health Services. The results of the exam were supposed to be announced on January 10, 2025, but their delay has caused discussions and controversies. Some issues arose during the exam, including the participation of an administrative officer in the exam, which led to fairness concerns.

According to Alanya Postası Newspaper, the official gazette dated December 13, 2024, number 32751, announced that the entrance exam would be held on January 6, 2025, and the results would be published in the official gazette on January 10, 2025. Although the exam took place on January 6, 2025, with the participation of 5 people, the results were not announced on January 10, sparking debate.

Participants in the exam, while waiting for the results, found a message posted on the university’s website: "As per the official gazette dated December 13, 2024, number 32751, the exam was conducted by the exam commission on January 6, 2025. The evaluation protocols of the exam commission have been forwarded to the university’s rectorate. An additional announcement will be made by the rectorate regarding this matter." This message raised new questions regarding the exam.

It is reported that one participant was removed from the exam room without a protocol, and another participant was allowed to use a mobile phone during the exam. It was also claimed that the participation of an administrative staff member in the exam compromised the transparency of the process. While results of exams for other departments were announced in the same period, the question of why the results of the Child Development Program exam were not disclosed remains unanswered. The university responded to Alanya Postası Newspaper, stating that "department heads are working on this issue and an official statement will be made soon." Questions regarding what the department heads are working on and why the exam commission's decision was announced later than promised remain unanswered for now.
