A new era for family doctors in Alanya: Here’s what awaits citizens

The Ministry of Health has introduced significant changes to the family medicine system. Under the new regulation published in the Official Gazette, it will now be easier for citizens living in a different city to change their family doctor. In cities like Alanya, where the population is continuously growing, new family health centers will be opened, and the number of patients per family doctor will be reduced.
For citizens registered in the family medicine system but residing in another city, the process of changing doctors has been made more practical. With the new regulation, those who wish can change their family doctor within one month. Previously, the maximum number of patients assigned to a single family doctor was 4,000, but this has now been reduced to 3,500. This change will help balance family health services in cities like Alanya, where the population increases during the tourist season.
24/7 Healthcare Services in Alanya!
With the new regulation, family medicine units offering integrated healthcare services will now operate 24/7. However, family doctors working in these units will be exempt from duties such as issuing death certificates and conducting forensic autopsies. This change will enable faster access to emergency healthcare, particularly in tourist cities like Alanya.
Priority for Family Medicine Specialists
Every second vacant position in family health centers will be allocated to family medicine specialists as a priority. Additionally, specialists will be given priority during the placement process for vacant units. The process of appointing family health staff will also be limited to one month. If suitable personnel are not found within this period, the provincial health directorate will step in to finalize the contract.
New Standards for Family Health Centers in Alanya
The Ministry of Health will determine the opening of family health centers and family medicine units based on service needs. Licensing for new centers will be handled by the provincial health directorates. In Alanya, especially in cases of urban transformation, zoning plan changes, or demolition decisions, suitable public buildings will be identified for relocating family health centers. If no such building is available, an alternative facility provided by family doctors will be utilized.
The Ministry has also set internal and external standards for family health centers, mandating compliance with corporate identity guidelines. These new regulations aim to ensure that citizens in Alanya have easier and faster access to healthcare services.
