A special event was held in Alanya for World Autism Awareness Day

The Alanya Municipality Barrier-Free Park and Life Center held a special program at Damlataş Barrier-Free Public Beach on April 2nd for World Autism Awareness Day. The event, which provided a platform for the artistic expression of individuals with autism, raised awareness and delivered meaningful messages.

At the event, the layout of a painting previously drawn by the instructor of the Barrier-Free Art Workshop was colored by individuals with autism. Each line, form, and color in the painting reflected the emotions, inner world, and ways of self-expression of the individuals with autism. Through this artwork, they shared the message, "Every piece has a place and a reason. You may look at my story from a different perspective. You can see my world shining with a red light for autism. You can help me open my curtain, and support my steps on the path I walk. In my world, you can also be my light."

GUEST SPEAKER: "ART IS A POWERFUL BRIDGE THAT UNITES DIFFERENCES"

Faruk Konukçu, Advisor to the Mayor of Alanya, emphasized the importance of such events in helping individuals with autism form strong connections with society, stating, "Art is not just a means of expression, but also a unifying and healing force. Today, we shared the worlds of individuals with autism. We enrich ourselves with their colors, emotions, and perspectives. This event was a valuable step in increasing social awareness and shining a light on their potentials."

CEYLAN: "WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT"

Halime Dim Ceylan, a member of the Municipality Council, who also participated in the program, stated, "As Alanya Municipality, we will continue our projects to support the active participation of individuals with special needs in social life and to create empathy and awareness in society."
