Visit to the affected tourists of the 5-star hotel where the fire occurred

In Kemer, Antalya, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Derya Baytekin and Kemer Municipality Council member Cansın Efir visited tourists who are receiving treatment in the hospital after a fire in a 5-star hotel, where 8 tourists were affected by smoke.

During their visit to the tourists hospitalized in Kemer after the hotel fire, Baytekin and Efir inquired if the tourists had any needs. They conveyed the message that they were there for support.

The fire broke out yesterday around 4:00 PM in a 5-star hotel located in the Beldibi neighborhood of Kemer, Antalya. The fire, which started in the hotel's restaurant, quickly spread, and smoke affected a large part of the hotel. Numerous firefighters, vacuum trucks, gendarmerie, UMKE, AFAD, police, and municipal teams were dispatched to the scene. Most of the 550 guests who noticed the smoke exited the hotel during the initial moments of the fire. Hotel staff took precautions to prevent any adverse situations for those trapped on the balconies by using mattresses.

Guests trapped on the balconies were rescued with cranes. Due to the rapidly spreading flames, smoke affected a large portion of the hotel, prompting teams to mobilize for the evacuation of guests who could not exit their rooms. As fire trucks were unable to access the rear of the hotel, work was done to clear a path for construction vehicles. After about half an hour of work, cranes were used to rescue hotel guests trapped on the balconies. Foreign tourists rescued from the balconies received initial medical assistance before being transported to hospitals for precautionary checks.
