The end is near in Alanya: The Imported Meat Game!
The sale of imported meat exclusively in chain markets has sparked a reaction from butchers. The President of Alanya Butchers Association, Selman Arıkan, stated that efforts are being made to eliminate butchers.
With the start of the sale of imported meat in only chain markets in all 81 provinces and districts of Turkey by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Livestock, reactions from butchers continue. Alanya Butchers Association President, Selman Arıkan, stated that the sale of imported meat only in chain markets has led to price increases among butchers. He emphasized that butchers have been fighting hard to protect their businesses.
BUTCHERS ARE BEING TARGETED
In his statement, Arıkan expressed that butchers are being unfairly portrayed. "Imported meat is going to the markets, not to the butchers. When it reaches the big markets, it is portrayed as if the high prices are the fault of the butchers. If it is desired to sell it at a lower price, imported meat should be made available to butchers as well. Right now, it is being sold cheaply in those big markets, and efforts are being made to eliminate the butchers. We will fight to prevent this. The services provided by butchers cannot be offered in those big markets," he said.
