Since this morning, a series of earthquakes in the Aegean Sea has raised concerns among the local population. A total of four earthquakes were recorded in the region, and the latest tremor, with a magnitude of 4, further increased the fear.

According to the statement by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a 3.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Aegean Sea at 08:31 AM. The epicenter was recorded at a depth of 7 kilometers. This first tremor was felt by the residents of the region and caused concern.

AFAD STATEMENT: WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE EFFECTS OF THE EARTHQUAKES?

AFAD officials are continuing their investigations regarding the earthquakes in the Aegean Sea. It is stated that aftershocks may follow, and local residents are advised to remain cautious and follow official announcements. Experts emphasize the importance of building resilience in earthquake-prone areas.

WHY IS THE AEGEAN SEA PRONE TO EARTHQUAKES?

The Aegean Sea is located in an area of intense tectonic activity. Tensions caused by the collision of the African and Eurasian tectonic plates often lead to earthquakes in this region. Experts point out that the earthquakes in the Aegean Sea are a natural process, but the risks can be reduced through preventive measures.
