In Alanya, a person attempted to set themselves on fire and was persuaded with difficulty to stop

In Alanya, a worker who had not received his salary climbed onto the roof of a construction site, poured gasoline on himself, and threatened to set himself on fire.
The incident took place at a construction project in the Okurcalar neighborhood. Around 50 workers started a protest because they had not been paid for months. One of them, in an act of protest, climbed onto the roof of the building and poured gasoline over himself.
Gendarmerie teams arrived at the scene and tried to convince the worker to step down. Representatives of the construction company also intervened, promising to pay all outstanding wages after the holiday. Following this assurance, the worker abandoned his protest and came down from the roof.
The ongoing economic crisis in the construction sector once again brought attention to the issue of unpaid wages. Authorities emphasized the need to take necessary measures to protect workers and prevent such incidents.
